Welcome to The Serpentine Gallery

The Serpentine world-renowned, temporary exhibition programme showcases work by the finest contemporary artists working across a huge variety of media. The exhibitions have ranged from established practitioners such as Ellsworth Kelly, Louise Bourgeois, Bridget Riley and Cindy Sherman, to shows seminal in establishing artists’ reputations such as Damien Hirst, Cornelia Parker and Langlands and Bell.

On the ground at the gallery's entrance is a permanent work by Ian Hamilton Finlay in collaboration with Peter Coates, dedicated to Diana, Princess of Wales, the Serpentine's former patron.

The Pavilion

The Serpentine Gallery annually commissions international architects of worldwide acclaim to design a pavilion on the gallery’s lawn that provides a unique showcase for contemporary architectural practice. The pavilion is host to a special programme of film screenings, talks, the BBC proms

Talks and Events

The Serpentine Gallery’s Talks and Events programme offers visitors a diverse selection of ways to experience, discuss and get involved in contemporary art, regardless of knowledge, experience or age with events ranging from our regular free gallery talks to 24-hour experimental marathon events.

Projects

Serpentine Gallery Projects build dynamic relationships between art, artists and people. Projects and events vary in scale, duration and location, and challenge expectations of where art can be encountered and by whom.
