Welcome to my Website

My name is Steven Carroll, I am an enthusiastic and dedicated Multimedia Graduate with a 2:1 second-class honors degree. In my second year at Nottingham Trent University, I chose the pathway of Interactive Media (Web Design).

This is my portfolio website where you can see my university projects and my live client projects. You will also be able to read my online journal; here I talk about my university work, completed over the last three years.

On the portfolio page, you will be able to view completed projects from university, as well as projects completed at South Nottingham College where I studied a BTEC National Diploma in Multimedia.

Knights Pharmacy Website

Knights Pharmacy

My final project for University, was to work with a client to design build, and implement a website.

Knights Pharmacy is a small local business. The pharmacy needed a website to promote services that they offer to the community and to the wider general public.

The overall objective to the website was: contemporary, clear, helpful and informative. The pharmacy wanted to get their message across to their customers, effectively, of their friendly and professional advice and services.

Simulated client project: My first project for my final year was to design and implement a website informing about Digital Piracy. The target audience multimedia students.

The website is to inform about software that can be obtained through educational discounts. The homepage has software packages on the shelf hover for information. I included information about educational support packages, information about the legal implications of downloading software, not to lecture but to inform as multimedia students are well aware of the pitfalls of downloading software illegally.

Serpentine Gallery Website

Serpentine Gallery

My second term project was to design, build and implement a website for an arts/artists’ organisation. I chose an arts organisation: the Serpentine Gallery, London.

There are two different versions of the website, with and without Flash content, allowing for greater accessibility. Each page has its own colour which makes the website easier to identify and navigate. This project was my first attempt at using a MySql database.

Sherwood Forest Craft Centre Website

Sherwood Forest Craft Centre

This was a project I designed in a two-week period, to test my ability to design a website under the constraints of time and pressure. I thought this was impossible.

However, the website was completed on time. All the images used on this website were taken by me and permission was given from each craft outlet. I incorporated the navigation into the banner to make the website more interactive, having limited content.
